A Time of Thanksgiving (Meals)

We have had a very busy November.  Lily and her classmates  prepared a lovely Thanksgiving feast for our families, and provided a little entertainment as well.  Each child made several decorative place settings for the tables, every family provided a side dish or dessert to go along with the turkey, and the kids sang some cute songs for us.  A good time was had by all!

At the end of the meal, I realized that I was so busy trying to keep Harrison fed and sitting nicely at the table with Lily, that I didn't get any pictures of the actual feast.  It was a little chaotic in the classroom, but the kids and parents all had a great time.

Our second Thanksgiving meal was hosted by my Dad and Karen.  The four of us spent the holiday morning watching the parade.  Harrison danced when appropriate (he loved the music), and Lily enjoyed the marching bands, The Rockettes, and Broadway show performances. Of course, it was exciting to see Santa too.  Later in the afternoon we headed over to my parents house for dinner.  It was nice to spend time with my brother and his girlfriend.

Time to eat at the "kids" table.

Grandma Karen thought ahead and purchased a few Caillou dvds so Justin and I could visit with everyone, and have a few uninterrupted minutes to eat.

Thank you to Grandma and Papa for a great meal and a relaxing (for us) evening.

And for our final Thanksgiving meal on Saturday, we hosted my Mom and David, my Aunt Nancy, and Justin's parents.  Again, we enjoyed good company and way too much food.  Lily and Harrison soaked up all of the extra love and attention from family.

Lily helped me decorate place cards.

Playing one of Lily's favorite games...Candy Land.

Justin is such a good sport.  Lily wanted him to dress up like an angel, while she was a fairy.

Harrison decided it would be fun to build a tower on top of Pops.

Before bed, we had to get a photo with both sets of grandparents.

And in between all of these feasts and Thanksgiving celebrations, we also traveled to Virginia to see Justin's brother and new sister-in-law Veronica.  The happy couple eloped in October, and we wanted a chance to spend time with them, and to hear about their big day.  My sister came over for a morning visit while we were there too.

After we got home from our trip to visit the Klingman family, we celebrated my mom's birthday.  Lolly and Pops spent the afternoon playing with Lily and Harrison, and then we had dinner and birthday cupcakes.  Happy Birthday, Mom.  We love you!

Lacing beads together.

Harrison concentrated so hard on this task.  He did really well.  When he's pleased with himself he says, "I did it!"

Time for dessert.

Lily wanted to help Lolly open and read her cards.

Lily and Harrison gave Lolly new fingernail polish.  Lily couldn't wait to try it out.  Can't decide which color to use?  No problem, use two!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I don't know about the rest of my family, but I definitely can wait 360 more days to eat my next turkey!  However, family gatherings are fun year round.
