Lily’s First Day of Preschool

Lily went to bed last night excited about the day ahead, and woke up this morning in good spirits as she got ready for her big day.  She asked yesterday if she could ride the bus to preschool, and was disappointed when I told her that school buses did not take boys and girls to preschool.  She pleaded her case saying that she was a big girl and that she could indeed fit on the school bus.  Sadly, she had to settle for a ride to school in the red van.

She was all smiles as we took pictures this morning.  It was hard to keep her still.  She loved wearing her backpack and excitedly told her teacher that she had a backpack on her shoulders.

As we walked into school, Justin asked Lily if she wanted to hold his hand.  She said no; already quite independent and ready to go.  But, we did stop for a quick picture with Mommy and Harrison.

When we entered the classroom her teacher, Mrs. Mangum, showed her how to put a sticker on her folder, find her name for attendance, and hang her backpack in her cubby.

Next, I helped make some introductions (the preschool teacher in me was very apparent), and the girls let Lily join them in the kitchen.

Lily found her name in many spots around the room.

On the way home she told me all about her day.  Her favorite activity was playing outside on the tire swing, she liked singing the name song during circle time (and attempted to sing it for me), loved that she got juice (she never gets this at home), 5 wheat thins, and dog bones?? for a snack.  She was a little bit sad that the boy in the white shirt pushed her down, but she only cried a little.  She was happy that she got a sticker at the end of the day.

Here are a few photos from pick-up.  I think I was the only mom taking pictures from the car window!
