What Evelyn Can Do At Two!

Our two-year old is busy, busy, busy!  On Monday mornings she goes to gymnastics class and she is continuing her music classes on Wednesdays.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays I watch a little girl who has quickly become fast friends with Evelyn.

Here are some pictures from our last few weeks.

Evelyn's favorite activities at gymnastics are swinging from the bar, jumping on the trampoline, and walking on the balance beam.  She is one happy gymnast who is never ready for her class to be over.

Watching for the garbage truck is a favorite Tuesday morning activity.

Hula hooping at music class.  Actually, the kids were pretending that the hula hoops were boats rocking in the water.

Evelyn's new favorite show is Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.  We have to watch it every morning.  She takes in a lot from the shows, and we often find her singing the songs from each episode.  I had two doctor appointments in the last two weeks and she has had to come along, of course.  As luck would have it at each appointment the doctors were running way behind and she said to me over and over (without a fuss); "It's really hard to wait at the doctor!"  The idea of being patient and having to wait was a theme of one of the episodes recently.  That one really came in handy!

Her bedtime routine has gotten much better and she is finally through with her crying and making herself throw up stage.  She is quite particular about what she wants done at bedtime though.  We must read 3 books, say our prayers, and she has to rock with me while we sing 5 songs (always in this order):  Baa Baa Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, the ABC's, The B-I-B-L-E, and Jesus Loves Me.  Then we have to settle Molly down to bed, get her paci and finally talk about what she will eat for breakfast the following morning.  Finally it is lights out saying I love you to each other.  Phew!  Then it is back downstairs to spend a little quality time with Lily and Harrison.  Over the summer we've gotten into the routine of reading the Harry Potter books aloud.  We are on book 4.  After we finish each book then we watch the movies.  The kids are thrilled with this.  It's been a really nice routine to fall into.

Evelyn also loves to hear music on the Alexa in the playroom.  She tries so hard to say "Alexa...play (song)", but Alexa just can't understand her yet.  She hasn't gotten too frustrated but knows to ask for help.  She also LOVES dance parties and most especially dancing with Lily to choreographed songs that Lily has made up.  She does a pretty good job keeping up with most of the dance moves.  It is fun to watch!

Evelyn loves to color.  She takes her time and is very deliberate about the colors she chooses; she always starts with orange.  She wants every inch of the page to be full of color.

Evelyn loves to help me with chores around the house.  Especially swiffering the floor and taking laundry in and out of the dryer.  I love having a little helper around again.

She continues to have some pretty big tantrums from time to time.  She hates coming in from outside and will have quite the 'tude when it is time to come in.  She tries to put her shoes back on and attempts to get out of the door.  Thankfully the child proof door handles have kept her from escaping.

But most of the time, Evelyn is oh so sweet and gives the best hugs.  We just love our big 2-year old girl!
