May Update

My mom made this blanket for Harrison.

Our sweet little boy is 3-months old and we are having so much fun watching him grow.  He is such a good baby, so easy going with a very relaxed and happy personality.  God has certainly blessed us with two incredible children.  He is quickly outgrowing his 3m clothing and fits best in 6-9m outfits.  One problem is that his feet are so wide that his footed pj's are a little snug even though the length is fine.  We went to the doctor this month because Harrison had an ingrown toenail and needed antibiotics for a very mild infection.  His weight (with clothes and diaper) was 15 lbs, 6 oz.  Again, no problems with feeding and weight gain for our little guy.

We have a good bedtime routine now.  He is usually asleep by 8pm or a little after and generally wakes up between 6:45-7:15am.  However, I feel like he doesn't have a consistent daily routine.  Some days he takes a long morning nap, other times he sleeps longer in the afternoons, and some days he just catnaps throughout the day.  He seems to go with the flow and that's good since we're out and about because of playdates and Lily's activities.

Harrison loves Lily's music class on Tuesdays.  He sits in my lap and watches everything so intently.  He smiles and coos when anyone gives him attention and he gives a wide grin when the class sings good morning to him by name.  He also loves to watch the other children dance around with brightly colored scarves.  I can see that when Lily attends preschool in the fall we will need to sign Harrison up for a music class of his own.

One cute thing that Harrison does is laugh on the changing table.  He can be quite ticklish around his neck and underarms and will often laugh when I change his shirts.  Today I had only touched one button and he started giggling as if he knew what was coming.  So funny!

I know he isn't laughing here, but I wanted a picture of his cute socks.

Daddy getting some cuddles.

Lily is almost three and Justin and I agree that while we didn't see much of the "terrible twos," three might be a little different.  She makes her opinions known LOUDLY.  Lily has screamed and had mini tantrums when she doesn't want to leave a friend's house or when she doesn't want to come in from playing outside.

On a positive note, she has had me laughing uncontrollably on several occasions as well.  She loves to imitate people playing basketball and I have no idea where she learned this, especially since it's not basketball season.  She'll say, "Look, I play basketball like on TV," and she widens her legs and moves left to right very quickly all while pretending to dribble a ball, giggling the whole time.

Her little sayings also give me a smile.  We have a rose bush that blooms by our kitchen window and she loves to look out at the blooming flowers.  One day, as the flowers began to wilt and die, she said, "Oh no, the flowers are melting!"

We had a minor scare today.  Ever since she played with the rings at the children's museum in Raleigh, she has tried hanging on furniture and objects around the house.  We've tried to talk about safety and maybe she learned her lesson today.   She tried to put her weight on her pink play kitchen and it fell down on top of her.  She has a few bruises on the side of her face and she bit her lip, but other than that she is fine (thank goodness).  Later she told me, "That looked like monkey bars, but it's not!"

She still loves pretend play and her favorite thing to do is pretend to be Mommy.  One day this week she went into one of my dresser drawers,  helped herself to a pair of my underwear, and tried to put them on over her clothes.  I'm all for this since it at least has her attempting to take clothes on and off by herself; something she hates doing and rarely tries.

Also trying on Mommy's boots.

We also bought a new car this week.  We finally decided to become a minvan family and Lily is very excited about our van.
