Evelyn at 15 Months

Evelyn is growing and learning so much so quickly.  Every day it seems she can do or say something new.  She absolutely loves her Kindermusik music class on Monday mornings.  She participates in the activities and loves helping to clean up all of the instruments. She usually has the teacher laughing because of her absolute focus toward whatever is going on. She loves the bells, drums, sticks, and bubbles.  She is not the least bit interested in the colorful scarves, but she is quick to grab them and put them back in the bin when the activity is over, like she is saying, "Great, we are done with these. What's next?" In class, as well as at home, she claps for herself when she knows she has completed a task well.

Yep, that's her I touched the scarves face.

So happy to bring me a bell.

Evelyn uses all sorts of hand gestures and signs to get her point across, in addition to trying to say new words.  She will shrug her shoulders and put her hands out when she doesn't know where something is.  She puts her fingers up to her ear to show you she is listening if she hears a lawn mower, airplane, garbage truck, or a dog barking outside.  She loves to put her hand over eyes to play peek-a-boo.

She will meow or woof when asked what a cat or dog says.  She tries to say cow "ka" and moos when watching her favorite Baby Einstein video.  She also says "ock" for socks, mama, daddy, "ka" for cookie when reading one of her favorite books.  If asked if she can say Lily or Harrison she usually responds with a resounding "yes" though she is often hesitant to attempt their names. She sometimes will say "wa-wa" for water, and always signs the words for milk, more, please, and thank you.  While she can say yes verbally, she can't say no, but will shake her head vehemently when she doesn't want something.

Because she has so much that she wants to express and gets frustrated when we don't understand, she is beginning to have little temper tantrums. She loves the outside so much that I have learned that I cannot open the garage door before I get her strapped into her car seat, otherwise she will refuse to get in and will fight me with every ounce of strength that she has to get over to the sidewalk.  She loves to look at and touch the flowers and trees.  She also hates being strapped into her stroller and shopping carts so this makes running errands lots of fun until she settles down. Have I ever said that she has mind of her own?

As she always has, she is so content and happy to look at books independently or sitting sweetly on my lap.  Lately she will hand me a book and then sit down next to me with a different book and we just read together side by side.  I love those calm moments.  Currently, her favorite books include The Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear Brown Bear, The Llama Llama series, and any books that have multiple pictures that she can point to and say "this" and then one of us tells her the word.

Reading before bed with Daddy is also fun.

Evelyn loves to climb on things and throw the ball to us, especially with Harrison.  She also loves to spend time with Lily in her room playing with her American Girl doll accessories and Legos.  She will also dance when Lily plays music.

She is so happy that she can use her fork independently.  She even tries to use a fork for her Cheerios. We are so proud of her determination!

We love watching you learn and grow each day.  We love you, little cutie pie!
