Lily had a wonderful week at Vacation Bible School. This week was a great taste of what we hope preschool will be like. She loved her teachers, loved the music, loved the crafts and Bible stories, and came home excited to tell us all about her day. This year the focus was on Daniel and the lion’s den. She told us that “the man in the white dress (Daniel) said, ‘don’t be afraid’ and he prayed.” She told us that she is learning about God and that God is in control. Of course, she also liked to tell us who got in trouble and what they were doing. Ahh, the start of tattling, perhaps? Her teacher told me that she was quite the helper and often pointed out when others weren’t following directions. Lily is a stickler for rules, unless she is the one who decides not to follow them.
Very excited to leave for her first day of VBS.
Dani and Lily both looking a little bit nervous at the start of Day 1.
Watching and participating in the final singing on Friday night.
Lily and Russell clapping and dancing.
After VBS we would talk in the car on the way home about her day. She was usually very talkative and tried to answer my questions the best she could. On Thursday, however, she answered a couple of questions and then said, “No more talking right now Mommy. I’m trying to listen to my music.” Is my child 3 or 13? Of course I burst out laughing and she wondered what was so funny.
It was amazing to me how quiet the house was in the mornings with Lily off at school. I missed her very much, but it was nice to spend some time with Harrison. I could tell that he missed her too, because when she came home he just kept looking for her and giving her big grins when he found her. While he was nursing he would eat for a few seconds and then turn completely around to find Lily, smile, and then go back to eating. Lily was excited to see Harrison everyday too. She’d say, “I have to get in the car and sit next to Buddy Bud”—her new nickname for him.
A couple of random pictures. Here is Harrison’s favorite way to play—on his belly with his toys out in front of him.
And here is Lily enjoying her firstMcDonald’s cheeseburger. I’d say making it to 3 years old before having a taste of a McDonald’s cheeseburger is pretty good. Of course, we can’t say the same thing about Chick-fil-a nuggets.
Such a fun week! Love these two to pieces.
