Lily’s Birthday Party

Our little girl will turn 3 on Tuesday.  Yesterday we celebrated with our friends at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro.  First, we ate birthday cupcakes and Lily opened a few gifts.

Another shot of the turtle cake.
I attempted a turtle cake in honor of the animals we would meet at the science center.

Lily was a little shy when we sang to her.

But she clapped with us after she blew out her candles.
Happy and clapping along with everyone after blowing out the candles.

Harrison and Daddy had fun too.
Harrison was content throughout the party.

Next, led by our instructor, we were able to learn about three animals: an armadillo, a turtle, and a rabbit.  The kids had so much fun petting their new little friends and watching the turtle walk around.  After the animals were put safely back in their cages, the instructor helped each child stamp out animal tracks to take home.

The kids waited politely, but with a few blank stares, as the instructor talked about the animals before bringing them out.

Happy (just fed) babies, Jacob and Harrison.
Jacob and Harrison joined the group for a few minutes.

Lily wasn't eager to pet the rabbit.

When the festivities were complete, we said good-bye to our friends and made our way out to the zoo to see a few more animals and to eat our lunch.  Lily had more fun playing on the monkey bars and sitting on a big frog than looking at the animals, I think.  However, she was very impressed by the large tortoises (especially after seeing a small turtle), the meerkats, and the wallabies.

The meerkats were entertaining.

Fun on the frog.

Happy Birthday to our big girl.  We love you very much!
