Lily and Gran'ma floating together.
Lily and Harrison enjoyed many popsicles by the pool.
Aunt Penny was very patient and spent lots of time trying to teach Lily how to float and swim without her puddle jumper.
Second cousins checking each other out.
Harrison loved his little feet.

Even though plenty of adults were on hand by the pool, we did have two weekend scares. First, Lily got out of the pool to eat a snack and afterwards she forgot she didn't have her puddle jumper on and just walked right down the steps and into the pool. She floundered and started sinking. Luckily Justin was playing in the pool with Harrison, turned around when he heard the splashing, and pulled her out quickly. Lily was okay, but after that she always told everyone, "don't forget to put my puddle jumper on!" A little while later Harrison was playing on the edge of the pool with Justin, throwing toys into the pool. Justin went down the steps to pick a few up, Harrison walked beside him holding onto the railing, but his hand slipped and he fell right in. Again, Justin swiftly picked him up, but he also went completely under before Justin grabbed hold of him. I think these two experiences helped both kids show more awareness around the water.
Here are some additional pictures of our fun by the pool.
These two pictures of Harrison show him excitedly watching Justin jump off the diving board. He loved the enormous splash!
Eating again! Only a grandma is allowed to open a huge container of chips and let the kids dig in. They loved it.
I think we are all going through pool withdrawal. We could relax here forever.
Notice that Harrison eats his popsicle as if it were corn on the cobb.
On Saturday morning I went with Penny to a quilt show with some of her friends, while Justin and Malcolm took the kids to Strasburg Railroad to see some trains. They had a great time.
After a wonderful visit with family in PA, we took another LONG drive down 95 to Justin's parents house. We also had lunch with my sister on Monday. Thankfully she was able to take a long lunch and met us out for a quick visit. The kids love their Aunt Melissa!
Two sisters with a Starbucks craving.
During our visit with the Klingmans, the kids demonstrated their musical talent. Lily and Granddad spent lots of time picking out and playing Raffi cds (and cassette tapes--gasp!). The kids would then dance like crazy to the music. The guitar and piano also kept them occupied for much of the time. As always, our visit was too short, but we had a great time while we were there.
H. would play a few notes and then look over with a big grin to see if I was still watching.
My little folk singer (at least that's how she looks to me in this picture).
Dancing like crazy kids!
I love how his tongue is out as he makes car noises.
So many wonderful summer smiles! We have one more vacation before school starts again. Let's hope we have as much fun as we did this time.
